Re: What is IDEN Network
iDEN stands for Integrated Digital Enhanced Network which is a wireless technology that was developed in 1994 by Motorola.basically it is a TDMA trunked radio system which is used for mobile telephony.iDEN operates on 25 kHz channels, but only occupies 20 kHz in order to provide interference protection via guard bands. An iDEN handset can function as a cellular phone, radio, pager, fax, speaker phone, and mobile Internet browser. It uses Motorola's VSELP system for voice compression, which enables iDEN to fit 6 voice conversations into one 25Khz channel and supports either three or six interconnect users per channel, and six dispatch users per channel, using time division multiple access.

Re: What is IDEN Network
iDEN provides its users the benefits of a trunked radio and a cellular telephone. Nextel is the largest US retailer of iDEN services. iDEN places more users in a given spectral space, compared to analog cellular systems, by using time division multiple access. iDEN handset users are finding new applications and discovering unique communication solutions every day to help their businesses evolve and grow.Newer iDEN phones use a SIM card that is compatible with GSM phones for international roaming, but only a few phones support both standards.iDEN networks are used by various carriers all over the world, and by Nextel and Southern LINC in the USA.

Re: What is IDEN Network
Integrated Digital Enhanced Network (iDEN) is a Motorola-enhanced mobile radio network technology that integrates two-way radio, telephone, text messaging, and data transmission into a single network. It is technology with no clear path for high speed wireless data. As part of the Sprint Nextel merger, 1xEV-DO will becoming the infrastructure for 3G data to both Sprint and Nextel customers, as part of the transition to CDMA2000.iDEN phones can run software programmed in J2ME code. This allows iDEN units to expand functionally. With this special coding, an iDEN phone can even function as a portable gaming unit. It's a Motorola complete communications system that you hold in your hand. Combining speakerphone, voice command, phone book, voice mail, digital two-way radio, mobile Internet and e-mail, wireless modems, voice activation, and voice recordings so that you can virtually recreate your office on the road.
