System unable to download programmes or updates
I am unable to download any updates or programme
Have run Adaware and Spyware NukerXT but they can't find anything. It seems like a bug somewhere but what and where I don't know?

Re: System unable to download programmes or updates
This issue should be related to the service setting. I suggest check the services and then restart to see if it works.
1. Click Start --> select Run. In the Run box, type services.msc Click OK
2. Find the Background Intelligent Transfer Service. Right-click on it and select Properties
3. Click on Stop and then again click on Start. In the Startup Type list, make sure that "Automatic" is selected. Click OK
4. Similarly find Automatic Updates service. Right-click on it and select Properties
5. Click on Stop and then again click on Start. In the Startup Type list, make sure that "Automatic" is selected. Click OK
6. Close the Services window
We have found that this issue can also occur because of the corrupt content of the Windows Update DataStore and Download folders in your system. Kindly complete the steps below to delete the contents of the Download folders:
1. Stop the Automatic Updates service
A. Click Start.
B. Choose Run.
C. In the Run box, type services.msc.
D. Click OK.
E. Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
F. Click Stop. Stopping the service will take a moment.
NOTE: The following will delete your History.
2. Delete the contents of the DataStore folder
A. Click Start.
B. Choose Run.
C. In the Run box, type %windir%\SoftwareDistribution
D. Click OK.
E. Clear all the file and folders in it
F. Close the window.
3. Start the Automatic Updates service
A. Click Start.
B. Choose Run.
C. In the Run box, type services.msc.
D. Click OK.
E. Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
F. Click Start. Starting the service will take a moment.
I think your problem will be solved

I am giving some sites, you can go on this and you'll find how to troubleshoot common Windows Update, Microsoft Update, and Windows Server Update Services installation issues: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/906602/en-us
Search the Support Knowledge Base: http://support.microsoft.com/search/...L L&mdt=0&res
Just try this and i hope you find your solution.

Re: System unable to download programmes or updates
If you are currently unable to download Spybot Search and Destroy updates as you are behind a proxy server, you can add your proxy server information to Spybot to help solve this problem. Note that before starting this change you should get your proxy server information from your system administrator.
1. Click "Mode", selecting "Advanced Mode".
2. Click "Settings" in the left pane.
3. Click "Settings" in the right pane.
4. Under "Automation" - "Web Update", check "Use proxy to connect to update server".
5. A "Proxy settings" dialog will appear, prompting you for the proxy server host and port. If the proxy server needs authentication, you can enter the proxy server user name and password.
6. Click "Ok" to close the dialog box.
