My friend was telling me that his downloading and uploading speed of the internet increased by installing some software.
I want to know which are the softwares relating to this?
Any information?

One of the softwares for increasing internet speeds is Comcast.
Comcast offers:
downstream speeds of up to 1, 12, 16, 22 or 50 Mbit/s and
upstream speeds of .384, 1, 2, 5 or 10 Mbit/s for standard home connections.
These differing speed options are made possible by loading a particular configuration file into the modem or banding channels together.
Comcast's "PowerBoost" delivers bursts for each tier 12M/2M up to 15M/3M, 16M/2M up to 20M/4M, and 22M/5M up to 30M/5M.
According to the Comcast High Speed Internet terms of service, customers are provided with dynamic IP addresses.

Re: Raise Downloading/Uploading Speed?
The best way to increase internet speeds is to get a download manager-DAP.
DAP ( Download Accelerator Plus) specializes in giving you optimum download speeds.
For example,
a normal FireFox download manager gives the speeds ranging from 10-20 kbps (max) since I'm on a 128 kbps connection :
Using the same file, you get the speed around 50-200 kbps using DAP
Click here to get Download Accelerator Plus (DAP) - You can either get the free version, or the paid one. The only difference which I feel is that you can minimize downloads to the system tray in the paid program, while you cant in the free version. The speeds are almost the same.
