Error Message "404 Page Not Found"
Hi friends,

I am facing an issue with my PC.Whenever i am trying to open any document on Internet explorer i am getting the following error message.

404 Page Not Found: You cannot open Office files in Internet Explorer.

Can anyone help me out with this issue.

Intel Dual core 2.66 Ghz
915 MSI Motherboard with Intel chipset
512 mb RAM
80gb HDD

Sure i will help you out with this issue before that may i know which Operating system are you using and Version of Internet Explorer and Office are you using it

I am using Windows XP Sp2 , Office XP and Internet Explorer 6.0

Try to follow the below steps and i hope it will work for you.
Click on Start.
Type %temp% in run Option.
Delete all the temporary file.
Now open Internet Explorer.
Click on Tools and select Internet Options.
Now Click on Delete History, Cookies,Clear History.
Click on OK.

Thanks for your reply i try to do the above things but it didn't worked out for me any other solution.

I was also facing such kind of issue try to follow this steps:-
Click on Start.
Type regedit in Run Option.
Registry Window would get open and browse to the following location

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Internet Settings\
Now change the following Values.
Entry: TruncateFileName
Type: DWORD
Value: 1
Now save the registry and reboot your PC.
