Black screen while loading Cliffs of Dover game
Hi friends, I have got a PC with 4 GB RAM and 1 TB hard disk. I am using Windows 7 operating system currently. Recently I had installed “Cliffs of Dover IL-2 SturMovik” game in the PC. Whenever I start the game and the game loads, the screen turns totally black. I have only played twice before but now the Launcher is not working. But now the game doesn’t start. In the main menu, whenever I try to load the mission, it takes me to the desktop. Please help me regarding this problem.

First of all make sure that the game is compatible with your system. Check the requirement of the game and most important is the graphics card and driver. If you are sure about the game compatibility then follow this step. Close all the program and from the Start menu go to Run. In the space provided type regedit and press enter. Now browse HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\GraphicsDrivers. Then type Edit-New-DWord, Name = TdrDelay, Value Data = 12. Now you can continue with the game. I am sure it will work.

The game launcher is not working because there might be some problem with the “conf.ini file”. This file would have corrupted. Try to locate the file under “C:\Users\[user]\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover” and replace the conf.ini file with conf.ini in the main application directory. The path is “C:\[install path]\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover”. Now you won’t face any launcher error.

If you the game is unable to load then check which Direct X has been installed for the game. If you are using Direct X10, then change it to DirectX 9 in the conf.ini and observe if the game is able to load. I was having the same problem but I overcome it by switching from DirectX 10 to DirectX 9. This will also load the game faster than before.

The game is unable to start because there might be some registry problem. Note if you are using AVG antivirus software for your PC then this game will not work due to some compatible problem. Unless you disable the AVG antivirus, the game will not start. You encounter black screen during the start of the game. The reason is, your video driver is not supporting. If you are running on Nvidia driver then I tell you this driver version has some problem. To solve this you need to install the previous driver that you were using or upgrade it to the latest one

Thank you all for your suggestion and kind support. The system was loading the game slowly but the monitor screen turned black while loading. When I managed to get into the game menu, I was sent back to the desktop. The problem was with the Nvidia video driver. I don’t know why it was not supporting the game. So I got it upgraded to the latest version. Now there is no black screen while loading the game and the program runs very smoothly. Thanks to you all, again.

Can you please write the quote marks on what we type in and which column do they go in as well exactly like do we put in the comma and space or is that just puncuation please clairify.

Are you running a old version of Nvidia graphics driver, most probably the 266.xx drivers version? It can be resolved by either rolling back to a previous driver version, such as 257.21, or upgrading to the just-released 270.51. The issue can also be resolved by manually adjusting one of the driver parameters in the registry. This is for more advanced users. Please modify the registry at your own risk.

Ive finally got the nvidia updated but the thing stoll isnt working when i play on il-2 stormuvik a black screen, when i click player where the players box is that shows your pilot its a black scree, when it shows your plane its a black screen I cant figure out how to work it out!!!
