Nvidia pulls plug from Hybrid Power technology

Nvidia gives future desktop video cards no longer support Hybrid
Power. According to the manufacturer, the energy-saving technology has
little value because the new cards are already efficient.

Hybrid Power is part of Hybrid SLI, the technology that Nvidia
introduced in January last year to the IGP of certain Nvidia chipsets
with a Geforce card to combine. Besides better performance Hybrid SLI
for a reduction of energy consumption thanks to Hybrid Power is the
graphics card off if there is no 3d-intensive tasks need to be.

The last January launched Geforce GTX285 and GTX295 support not Hybrid
Power. Other cards that Nvidia has in the pipeline are, must do
without the energy-saving functionality. "We have Hybrid Power for the
desktop, since the user experience is no longer substantially improved
thanks to the improved idle consumption of Nvidia's latest graphics
cards," says Nvidia-Marketing Sean Cleveland. Is also possible that
Microsoft has stated that support for the current hybrid GPU
technologies in Windows 7 is still not stable, while the Nvidia
partners are not happy with the extra costs for Hybrid SLI. Nvidia
remains notebook GPUs support for Hybrid Power show.
