The screen
Slab of 17 inches is brilliant, its definition is 1440x900 pixels. A small flat on the brilliance of the slab: it shocked us less than other computers. Without a mate, reflections are reduced, which is appreciable.

The persistence is low enough to play comfortably and will be unbearable for a player extreme. Player, for which the performance of the machine will anyway not sufficient.

The viewing angles are good on the sides is limited to above (the image turns white) and very poor down as the picture becomes black very quickly.

The maximum brightness of the screen rises to 330 cd / m². It is an advantage if you're outside (it maximizes your chance to see something). Indoors, it is better to descend to 200 cd / m² (6th notch down from maximum brightness). The black screen is deeper than habiture: 0.24 cd / m² for 161 cd / m² in white. The contrast ratio is obtained from 670:1. A council for movies, do not hesitate to get the brightness to reduce the visibility of tingling colors.

Announced in early summer, the Dell Studio 17 is customizable through the keyboard. The basic starting price is modest, but the invoice quickly climbs over the options. Mid-September 2008, it takes about 1000 euros to the offer.

The customization does not stop components. The hull is also available in multiple colors. Gone are the choice of black or gray, the colors make laptops and bring a little fun in this gray world.
