In addition new things are font control and private data clearing for each window and support for notifications and icon updates when you've got a new message, chat, or other ping from your web applications.

New Prism 1.0 Features:-
New API functionality for allowing Prism-enabled web sites more desktop like power.

Ability to set fonts, proxy settings and other application-specific settings.

The ability to clear private data on demand.

Applications are automatically updated when new Prism versions are available.

Tray icon support, as well as submenus for dock and system tray menus.

Full OS X 10.4 support, and further OS X specific enhancement.

Support for SSL exceptions.

After adding it your FireFox, you need to go to the Tools menu on Firefox and select “convert to web application” for the website you’re on.You can create desktop shortcuts and tray icons to reach your app. Prism also comes as a stand-alone application, which just allows you to create web apps from the desktop.

Re: Transform web applications into desktop with Prism 1.0
When you visit a web-based application, you'd be able to click a button to turn it into a desktop app. This would create a desktop shortcut to the application and users would be able to open a window showing just that app.The Firefox extension downloads via the Firebox browser just like all extensions. All you need is to reset the browser after the app is finished and a new option appears in your Tools menu: "Convert Website to Application."

The Prism experiment is in production use today by thousands of people around the world, however, there is still much to explore as it is a very cool extension that we hope becomes a standard part of Firefox soon. The tray icon updates are especially nice. It makes using social media even easier. More importantly, it is a testament as to how far web applications have come.

Prism apps run separately from the browser, so they stay upeven if your browser doesn’t.On Windows, you can launch applications from the Start menu and then access them in the taskbar. Prism apps can be configured to minimize to the system tray on Windows so they stay out of the way when you donʼt need them. Accessed to a minimized app is still only a single mouse click away.Running the standalone application will open a configuration menu where the user enters the url of the web service that should be run on the computer desktop.

Additional settings can be configured including shortcut creation, selection of a icon and the elements that should be displayed in the Prism interface.Since this product is still in beta, we can expect enhancements and updates in the future. With Prism you can set an app to run automatically whenever your start your computer.

Once you have installed the extension and restarted the browser, you can turn any web site into a Prism application by choosing “Create Application for this Website” in the Tools menu.

Download Prism 1.0 for Windows
